The guy is a complete asshole. More mentally unhinged than the people the Winchesters have met in mental homes.

His reasons for becoming a hunter are acceptable, I would have been surprised had he NOT become one. But his attitude is all wrong. The guy is twisted beyond belief.

Taking it upon himself to decide that Sam should be eliminated too, in complete disregard to the fact that Sam was still a damn good hunter, and not caring if Dean was taken out in the process. He also showed a complete lack of faith in Dean, who would undoubtedly have dealt with Sam his own way as and when he felt he needed to.

He had no loyalty to anybody other than himself, everybody else was either in his way or a tool to achieve his goal.

I hated him from first sight, I hated him every single time we saw him and I was exceptionally glad when Sam dealt with him.
